i do not understand ....
why did akizy resign?

Game 337420

i can see enough to know that white is more comfortable ... based primarily on Akizy's unhappy horse, which has no squares to move to and might be stuck for some time, and also akizys stuck bishop after the inevitable QxQ and NxQ .... but what was Baca actually going to do?
marching the king up the kingside is my guess ... am i right?
surely the bishop can still retreat to f6.

I wonder what it's like for someone as highly rated as Akizy to hit the resign button. Did he need to look for it? How would it compare to any of us lower rated chumps to hit the resign button? Interesting....

I don't know what happened, but this is not a position I expect someone to resign. Black had a nice way to force queen exchange: Bxg3 QxQ Bxf2+ Kxf2 (or Rxf2 or Bxf2 or even a king move to g2 or h2) hxQ. Against the 3-1 queenside pawn advantage for white, black has 2 (although they are isolated) passed pawns. That is, assuming the g4 pawn will be lost, which takes white still a few moves.

you would have to destroy my fun wouldn't you ... and i thought i understood for a moment.
ahh well ... at least you must be struggling too!

if mephisto can't tell us why, then who can ??????

can it be that akizy made a mistaken resignation because of lack of practice at hitting that horrible button?
i hope it is not just the one day timelimit 😲
