Thanks. That is a great game indeed! But if you like (and you do) then I suggest you make a treat of it for us.

It's a bit too much for me.I would need a long time to figure it all out.
And you're much better at it anyway.

So off you go.Make us a nice presentation 🙂

Not me - needs a day to do it justice, either that or just the blind score.
Beukema - Hautot was also buzzing. What do they put in the water there.

    Two smashing games.

    Blind scores.

    Beukema - Hautot first

    Vandenbussche - Malakhatko

    Round 6

In the expert group 15 year old Stefan Beukema needs 1.5 out of his next three games to score his first IM norm.Let's hope he makes it.
I will translate Vandenbussche's brief comments on his R6 game. You know, the real crazy one. Will post it later.

I liked this game in the open.Black plays in the utmost straitghtforward way.
White hardly does anything wrong yet loses quickly.
    Schrickx Frank-Cools Gorik

And yes,we have a quick draw too.Two even!I picked just one.Don't want to overdo the gimmick.

    Vandebussche
"To be honest,I was out of book after 7....,Nxd4.Malakhatko also started spending time there,so I think he was on unfamiliar terrain too.I thought being ahead in development was already useful"

On the position at move 12
"at first I wanted to play 12.Ba5 with a stable plus, but then I saw the sacrificial line.I thought it won outright and thus saw no reason not to try it"

After being informed engines evaluated the position as equal
"It's incredible that this is objectively equal. However,as a human I think white always wins if he doesn't exchange queens or permits perpetual check.I have 3 pawns and his king's wide open!"

about his play in the tourney so far
"I was a bit depressed scoring 0 out of the last 2 games and then last night I felt ill too.I was planning to use it as an excuse to drop out(laughs). And then this happens. One of my best games ever! Now I can still make something of my tourney"

    Good luck Thibaut.

I could just imagine all the window pane lickers putting this
game into their boxes looking for answers.

This position is equal according to a box. 🙂

One reason why I was shy to note it up.
Practically every move from 13 - 37 needs a note as there is so much going on.

I was pleased to see Rxd6 'instantly'.
It has been stated that the very first move you think of, the one that pops
into your mind right away is about 7 times out the 10 the move you will play.

    However from here.

I did not see the Queen going from g7 to e1 in three moves.

And there are many moves all through the game for both sides
that side step tricks. Possibly need a whole book to do it justice. 😉

Best just to let it wash over you unless you see a spot-on shot
    and simply enjoy the fun.

Serge is just one point behind the leader Anna Zozulia (2381) on 5½ pts.

Today he is Black v Verhaeren (2014)

Good, high-grade Jacques-Callebaut extra dark. Caffeine, sugar, and the pure happy-juice that is theobromine, all in the best quality available anywhere in the world.
In the Netherlands we put Van Houten cocoa powder (the original! Accept no surrogates!) in it, which means that the games from our championship (Anish Giri and Zhaoqin Peng won, obviously) are mostly very merry and certainly enjoyable, but of not quite as high quality.

    Round 7

Unfortunately Beukema lost.He can still get his norm but must now score 1.5 out of 2.
Don't know what happened. With black he got a good position, was playing well, then seemed to trick himself.

In the open we saw the third quick draw for Van Herck.I think he's going for a record.

And greenpawn's newfound friend won in 12 moves!
    Chess and alcohol don't mix!

    This game is good.

    Round 8

In the expert section the leader,Hovhanisian, took the questionable decision to make a quick draw (8 moves).
Questionable because it ensures him of at least a shared first place but means he now has to win the last game, with black,to score his GM norm.
Guess he values the tournament victory more.
Vandenbussche-Meesen played a lively game.Too tired to make notes.Just enjoy the game.

In the open Van Herck made his 4th quick draw(8 moves).
Atanasiu scored a nice win versus Rooze in an exciting game.

    Final round

Michiels Bart is the new champion.Congratulations!
    Hovanhisian Mher wins the tournament.Congratulations!
    Wait,that can't be right.Sure it can!
New rule since this year. You need to have the Belgian nationality or be considered a Belgian by Fide.
Hovhanisian is neither so Michiels, who came in 2nd,wins.Simple.
Spicey detail,Hovhanisian didn't know this. They only informed him today after his game.

    Bart's final game.
Skillful defense against a speculative attack.

    The open
IM Zozulia Anna, who didn't lose a single game, tied for first with Draftian Ashote.
Not sure but I believe they have to play a tie-breaker.
The dodger won and came in 2nd.Some good dodging!
Van Herck Marcel (our quick draw king) won his last game!
    I have to show that.

Verhaeren Gertjan-Hamblok Roel was interesting too:
    1.c4 There's a good movie on the tele this afternoon,let's go home.Ok.Bye!
    These guys never disappoint 🙂
