No. The MODERN Benoni goes as follows:
1. d4 Nf6
2. c4 c5
3. d5 e6
4. Nc3 ed
5. cd d6
And then white can choose a bunch of moves but black plays ...g6, ...Bg7, ..0-0, and normally pushes for play in the center and queenside (..a6 and ..b5 type stuff!), as he has the pawn majority on that side . Play is sharp. John Nunn, Kasparov, and many others use this defence. Draws are unlikely!
Nah. All white has to remember is this line!:
1. d4 Nf6
2. c4 e5?!
3. de Ng4
4. Bf4 Nc6
5. Nf3 Bb4
6. Nbd2 Qe7
7. a3 Nce5
8. Ne5 Ne5
9. e3 Bd2
10. Qd2
now black should play 10..d6. And white has a slight edge. In the Budapest it is known that if white gives the pawn back he keeps and edge but if white strives to keep it than black gets play. π

According to the Chessmoves database they have 106 Budapest games - White and Black each have a 35.8% winning %, draws are 28.3%. I wouldn't be surprised if Black had a plus score below the master level.
Black can also play 3. ... Ne4, but Reshevsky supposedly refuted this with his 4. a3! But if you run into this you either need to memorize this game or find Reshevsky's moves over the board, which doesn't look so easy!

Yeah, g5 sucked! It's pretty obvious that it's bad though and noone would really consider it. Funny that an expert played it. Ahh, ...Ne4, the Fighting Farjarowisz, as it's called. It's got some bite but 4.a3 is pretty good. There is a web site somewhere with a text devoted to it but I forget where it is. I do believe chessopolis does have a link to it somewhere! π
Aah!The Budapest!I remember me playing that, many, many moons ago.Got squashed like a bug each and every timeπ² Except against computers, for some odd reason.Of course, there was no such thing as fritz back then. And I enjoyed every single one of those defeats π
Great opening! These days however,I tend to go for wins. But I'll give my old love another try,see how she treats me these daysπI'll also take a look into that Benoni stuff.Yes,I know,MODERN!π
Thanks for the help π΅
