Has anyone got any games on this opening you would like to share?
I haves only recently discovered it and would like to look at other versions of it.

Here is a game I have just finished
Game 2300972

When I'm playing Black against the Blackmar Diemer Gambit I play 2...e6 to transpose to the French. The inevitable look of disgust and disappointment on the face of my opponent is priceless!

LOL
I think thats what I would do as well... I also like the french.

Transposing to the french is good if you like to play that but I prefer something like this:
1.d4,d5
2.e4?,dxe4
3.f3,Nf6
4.Nc3,exf3
5.Nxf3,e6
6.Bg5,Be7
7.Bd3,c5 (not Nc6!Black needs to challenge the center)
8.dxc5,Qa5
9.O-O,Qxc5+
10.Kh1,Nbd7

Where is white's compensation for the pawn?
Not saying it can't be played,it wouldn't be the first time I lose such a game. But in those games the result wasn't determined by the opening.

I just looked through that line, and I have a few questions....

3.f3? according to (http://www.chessgames.com/perl/explorer) the most popular response after "1. d4 d5 2. e4 dxe4" is Nc3, which has been played in 300 games as opposed to 3. f3 which has been played only 8 times.

Perhaps f3 is the wrong plan white should be following to equalise/gain advantage.

this page: -

has quite a bit of info on it.

The move f3 is the whole point of the Blackmar-Diemer gambit!
Sure,3.Nc3 is more common. It is followed by 4.f3(which by now is probably white's best move) after which we've reached the same position as in the line I gave.
1d4,d5
2.e4,dxe4
3.Nc3,Nf6
4.f3,exf3
5.Nxf3,e6
etc....

Quoting from the site you linked us to:
"To have a BDG you have to have Nc3 and f3 in there. And of course if the gambit is accepted you have to have exf3."

I think 2.e4 is the wrong plan rather than 3.f3 or 4.f3

The move order is important. If 1.d4 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.f3 (the original Blackmar Gambit) then Black has 3...e5! as a very strong option. The Blackmar Diemer, 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.f3 is much more playable for White in my opinion.

I'll take your word for that.I'm no expert on the BDG,I just learned 1 line to play against it so to me the move order doesn't matter cause I'll always play that 1 line.

Yup, I'm with the fat lady.
I would never dream of playing f3 without playing Nc3 first.

the immediate 3. f3 shares the same problem with the Danish Gambit, in that 3. ...e5! (3. ...d5! in the Danish) cripples it.

The only problem I have with playing the BDG (through transposition of course: 1. e4 d5 2. d4) is that damn 2. ...c6. The Caro-Kann really messes with my attacking style. The french (2. ...e6) is fine for me since I enjoy games with the closed center and wing play that it can bring.

If your an attacking player, the 2 knights variation is pretty sharp

actually, I do prefer to play the 2 knights variation of the caro-kann. But by the line 1. e4 d5 2. d4 c6 that option is, unfortunately, lost.

just finished playing a game there using the opening...

Game 2357163

8 moves in I'm castled, I've 2 open files, my rook is already on one, and my bishops/knights are also on good attacking squares... all for a pawn. I like this opening. Well, I think it's good at my level of play, don't know if u would see it used at a higher level though?!

There's this quote by,I think,Rizzitano.
"If a titled player even so much as dreamt of playing the BDG he should wake up and apologise!"
