Blitz tournament in Oxford

The Cowley Summer Blitz tournament will be taking place on Monday 23rd June (in the evening, 7:15pm start). Anyone who lives within shouting distance of Oxford is welcome to enter. I was second, behind IM Harriet Hunt, in the last Cowley blitz tournament in December, but this was a bit of a fluke result as I'm not very good at blitz. Anyway, if anyone here intends to enter drop me a line and we can meet up for a drink beforehand (and afterhand).



Cowley Summer Blitz

will be held on Monday 23 June at Cowley Chess Club (now at Rose Hill
Methodist Church). All chessplayers are welcome. As usual, there will be
five double-rounds, a cash prize for the tournament winner, and lots of
other prizes (books, etc.). If possible, please register your entry in
advance via the web link below, where you will also find further
details. Entry costs £3. (Donations of prizes will also be gratefully
received.) Round 1 will start at 7:15pm sharp.

Please note: Players who have *not* registered their entry in advance
should arrive between 6:45pm and 7:00pm to enable pairing cards to be
written and the first round draw to be made promptly. Prizegiving will
be at approx. 9:45pm. (It will be possible for young juniors for whom a
9:45pm finish is too late to play in either two rounds [8:05pm finish
approx.] or four rounds [8:55pm finish approx.] if this is arranged in
advance. Please select the relevant option on the online form if you
wish to do this.)
