    Well played.
    You need to try & get all your pieces involved though & I think just glancing at the game, I would have played R(a)e8 at some point toward the end of the opening/start of middlegame if at all possible.
    You first moved it on move 41.

    On move 18 your opponent had a forced mate with Qh6.

    no, there was no "forced" mate on move 18.

    Well after your opponent plays 18.Qh6 the best you can do is put him in check until his king gets to a safe place. Then I think there is no way of stopping the mate.

    Qh5, or just take the rook on the second check. Although I'll grant you that queen for rook down isn't exactly ideal...
