... does anyone find that solving puzzles and playing games in 2d (ie on computer screen) is more difficult? Is it a good idea to be playing on a computer screen when club and tournament games are on a real board? I have always wondered if it is possible to quantify the difference. Maybe playing in 2d actually is more difficult and therefore slightly better for training purposes?
I used to agree because i only ever used to play otb, now i almost only play on here so I actually find when I go to my chess club it is actually a little harder to focus on a 3d board, it requires more concentration for me, now I try to balance it by playing both regularly.
Its just a case of getting used to each style I think.
Originally posted by rijnsburgerI mean that a real difficultness is playing on the computer with 3D board. It can be more difficult and take your 200 performance points if you are not used to particular board. So the anwser would be: You need to get used, and than you will meet no difficulties
