What's the definition of a good queen sacrifice?

If you lose the queen just to have a forced mate in the next move, that's not a sac, is it? Then it's just an example of a tactical combination, isn't it?

well, depends...
if the queen is sacked for a 12 move combination...
that's pretty amazing...
If, in the case of Bobby Fischer's famous sac, it gains him other extraordinary advantages with out mate, and still wins, that's amazing...

There is one or two lines of the dragon where black gives up his queen for a rook and bishop (sometimes just two bishops) and gets quite good compensation. I have never had to play it on here though, most of the time I find other sacrifices to win with or get smashed before the chance arises.

The definition is the difficulty of finding the move IMO. Like the one I posted, it's totally not obvious, very hard to find.

It is usually easier to find if it is your own game - like in the one I posted I was aiming for it from several moves before I actually played it.
