Nice report greenpawn. The local Bristol guys put this up:

As well as Jack I'm quite interested in following Sarah Hegarty's progress since next season she's our team captain at uni.

It says Jack just 15 minutes for the whole game - and lost.

Interesting picture, have tied him down to stop him from moving so quickly.

Yeah, a bit unlucky for jack. although mike surtees is not to be underestimated - he just beat paul littlewood today (albeit with a bit of a swindle, but they all count...)

That's actually my report taken from here.

I'm very much not a local Bristol guy. They are currently in breech of copyright. I've contacted them to request they acknowledge that they have republished my work. (At the S&BC blog we are, as our copyright notice makes clear, very happy for our work to be republished as long it is not on a commercial basis and as long as the origin of the material is acknowledged).

Yeah - just played over the game. A classic.

Mike's opening play!? - I hope some of the players on here don't
look at Mike's opening in this game.

We will have to get him to join RHP just to answer their questions.

It's all very refreshing in this age of worshipping the Opening Book.

Incidentally, my report from this morning

http://streathambrixtonchess.blogspot.com/2009/07/s-young-uns-and-lack-of-cash.html

features a very nice finish from my friend Angus French in the major open and a segement about George Salimbeni who a year ago - give or take a month - was playing me and yesterday was playing GM Peter Wells.

My fellow bloggers tell me that Jack often moves very quickly and this rate of play is far from unusual for him - win or lose.

I've very pleased to say that the local bristol folk have acted like gentlemen and the matter has swiftly been resolved.

Jack Rudd beat me in Rd 3 of the 2006 EU Champs. The game ran to 45+ moves. I'd used all my time; Jack had, with the added increment, used minus time. I deduced that he'd grown younger during the game. It goes without saying that I'd aged rather more 😕

Don't blame Jack though. He moves fast because he must; the way he is..and stuff. Fine player still.

On games, I lack the know-how to post Arkell-Storey from Rd 4. A quite brilliant game from the inventive Charles. Well worth a look at the total demolition of a GM by an amateur player

Couldn't find Arkell-Storey, but I found this one:

Apologies Jonathan, I was completely unaware 😳

Glad to hear it's all been resolved.

Yes, I never got a kick. Jack's Nh5 is completely wrong of course, but it so fazed me, I turned it into a reasonable move. After that, I could never get any squares. I also found it very disconcerting, never having met JR before, to spend, say, twenty minutes over a move whereupon Jack would return to the board and move instantly! This might be misinterpreted by some players 🙂
