I think he moved his king, realizing that the game was dead of his behalf. So he resigned without waiting for your move.

You can always resign, no matter whos move it is.

Probably not the case here, but I have noticed that there are some people that will always make a pointless move before resigning just so they can get their move count up a bit more (I guess to go for the "spinning star"😉.
