I have played crazy house on a correnspondence site several times. It worked just the same a chess game did.
It's not just when it's one move to mate, either - in normal bug, when everyone stays at the board, a couple wasteful moves thrown in usually won't make a difference, since it only buys you a couple seconds. On a corrospondence site, you could stave off mate in the middle of the night and buy yourself hours on the clock.
Which doesn't mean it wouldn't be fun on here, it would be interesting to try. 🙂
I looked at a web page on chess variants one time. The variant that intrigued me was bug house. To this day I have not even seen a game of bug house. I have seen a game of Stanley chess. It looked like a chess game that was played like that poker in Star Trek when Captain Kirk made up the rules as the game was being played.

Basically, it'll favor the person with no life who can watch the site all day and night. They'll tend to garner a time advantage with quick move turn-arounds and time advantages in bughouse are crucial.
automatic time outs. so people wil not wait at thier computers to click the skull. then it would work.
