4.Bxf7!? is not that bad. People who say its terrible are usually same who love static, boring closed positions. Bxf7 is not objectively good move, but it has surprise factor + universal "cool" move factor on its side.

I love to sac, sac and sac some more, but Bxf7 doesn't give anything close to a pieces' worth of compensation. As a rule, you can sacrifice a pawn to keep your opponent from castling. Sacking a whole piece when you only have one other piece developed will probably only work against a much weaker opponent.

4.Bxf7?? is useful only in 1 min bullet - in such a way you can steal your opponent few seconds 😀

G.I.P but don't think this is giving anything away...

Well I get some compensation for being 2 points down after 5 moves.
1) Early mate threat (unlikely but still forcing)
2) Open center which suits my play - I am more likely to be able to use the open e-file than white
3) Active Q
4) White cannot castle & will have problems activating the Rh1
5) White's KS is weak

The main problem is that white can counter the early # threat while developing with reasonable play & I have lost an active piece & may have my only other 1 hounded for a few moves.

I play that opponent regularly & am looking for a few new ideas.

1.e4...e5
2.Nf3...Bc5
3.Nxe5...Bxf2+?!
4.Kxf2...Qh4+
5.Kg1...Qxe4

I was feeling a bit reckless when I tried this sac.. I wasn't sure if it was worth the extra time and space... I'm still not sure.. what's your opinion Korch?

I hate that Bishop sacrifice. I started playing 3. .... e6 to block it.
