I have not been castling right away in my games and it seems to be helping me.

I would castle asap when I first started on this site. But now I am waiting to see what is needed.

What is the general opinion of castling from the crowd?

i also used to castle first thing, around my 4th or 5th move, but now i see how good it is to not give a target to your opponent untill later...

Castle when you want to or when you need to but never just because you can.
