Who are they? The only ones I've ever read about are of course Humphrey Bogart, and I came across an article that mentioned Sting (Singer, not Wrestler) played an exhibition game against Kasparov. Any other notable celebrity chess enthusiasts?

Noting John Cornforth on the list. He used to lecture me at uni. and beat me at chess afterwards in the lab. Speciallised in pro pro chirality.

Shock jock Howard Stern is a chess nut according to a column in a recent Sunday New York Times. He's a 1600 +- player and often has chess celebs on his radio show much to the consternation of the bulk of his fans.
