Villa. Saturday. 2-0. Come on lads.
In response to a number of critical remarks regarding my 'unhelpful' comments, I thought I'd actually try to help you improve your game a little.

OK, now remember:

1. Try not to move Prawns in the opening. Allow your opponent to weaken his position by moving his own.

2. Get your Horseys onto the sides of the board as quickly as you can. They're safer there and when needed can suddenly spring into action, often surprising your opponent.

3. Likewise, move your Queen out early. Keeping her on either of the back two ranks for any lengthy period merely serves to block her in. It is ill-advised to keep such a powerful piece closed off from where all the action will be taking place.

4. A Bish is a problem piece. It is not really known where he is most suitably placed nor when, so it's best to leave both of them on their starting squares for as long as possible.

5. Castle rarely. Once your King is in a corner of the board, you will most likely forget about him and neglect his safety. Castling is OK if you need to get a Rock out, but otherwise leave the Rocks where each can guard its own Prawn.

Hope this helps.

Wow I was skeptical of Brow's comments but I tried out his tips in a number of tournament games today and placed first!!! You should really make book, a beginner like me really learned a lot from these few tips and I'm sure millions of others would too.

BWT if you want the PGN of a few games were Brow's tips became like a fiery sword sheathing through my unweary opponents just ask.
