Now that everyone has recovered from the shock of Dr.Brain posting in the chess only forum and the laughter has died down.

I am planning on buying a book to help improve my shaky chess skills.(There they go again laughing their butts off)

I know this has been discussed but missed that thread.Tried searching for it but erm,yes well.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

101 Questions on how to play chess by Fred Wilson

How to be a winner at chess by Fred Reinfeld

They both pretty much cover the basics. If you know all that these books have to offer you will be playing some very strong chess.

Jeremy Silman's 'Reasess your chess' and 'Amature's Mind' both are great for coming up with middlegame plans.

Vukovic's 'Art of Attack' is awesome for learning how to attack and defend.
