Wrexham (Bless my soul) Its a dump but hasnt got a bad team. Im not sure if we've played you yet? You'll probably get lumped against R. Dinely when you do. Only ever seen him lose one game.
Im looking for anyone to recommend a good club in the area. Iv been to most of the clubs in games have failed to get any real feel for which is better than others. Im looking for one that gets a good turn out of strong players, week in weekout. Since i'v played for Wrexham I cant play for any other club this season, and probably wont be living in the area after May.
A lot of the clubs iv been to have a bit of eccentricity about them. Chester club tickled my funny bone, the room they play chess in slopes drasticly, any visting clubs have to quickly adjust to playing chess on a 15 degree slope, certainly some type of psychological warfare going on there. 🙂
Wrexham always play with there backs to the wall in some hope that it might make there players play better.
Mold has old ladies line dancing in the next room while you play. The regulars at the club must have climatized to playing chess while the roar of 40 biddies stamp to the beat of hell a little distance away. I missed a straight forward Boden's mate for two moves on the run before finally getting enough wits to see it on the third attempt.
Anyone else have a good club quirk to share?
