Chess Clubs

How many people here go to chess clubs? I've been considering going to one, but the membership fee seems somewhat outrageous to me - $100+ for a year and I basically only get to play games - which I could do on the internet just as easily. The membership that offers much more is around $700 which is completely absurd (Could buy a PS3 😛), so I'm thinking I may just get a USCF membership and play in tournaments when they roll around. How about you guys? 🙂

Since I'm a student I pay £5 for mine, plus £1.50 for league matches.

And in my other club I pay £34.

Does it have a website, cos for $180 it should do.

I have one club a 10 minute walk away.

And another a 10 minute car ride a way, but i haven't joined that one.

Bristol has a couple of million and 14 or so chess clubs.

i play in a local chess club. out of 25 players, maybe 6 are above 1600, and 2 are above 1800. we get together once a week

i pay 25 can$ a year.
