I am currently rated around 1050 OTB (I've only played 30 rated games) and just came off three wins against a 1400, 1650, and 1800 players! Then I lost my last two games to a 1250 and 1395. Friends at the club feel I am underrated right now and am playing around a 1300, but I just think it's interesting how you can play great and beat some strong players and then lose to lower rated players playing like a fool. It's not overconfidence, it just seems that my last two games I've had trouble either finding plans or commiting to good ones.
Anyway...I find it interesting. Anybody have similar issues?

I've had days like that in blitz. One day I beat a player rated 2450 in 1 minute chess. The very next game I lost to a 1600 rated player. The first game was really tactical and the second was a real slow maneuvering game. I know it's just 1 minute chess, but it happens to me too. 🙂 This was at FICS where the blitz has ratings. 🙂
