Chess is a sport that is the hardest thought

Chess is a sport. The biggest problem with chess players and non-chess players is they dont actually know what a sport is. The world has been brainwashed by football which is the new religion in most countries.see our website www.turowski.com/chess and you can find out more. Chess should be in the proper Olympic games. Not have its own Olympiad. Chess has no physical boundaries and once you can get your head around that it is more of a sport than where people are limited just to certain muscle groups they have developed. I am interested on what people have to say on this matter and I defy anybody to come up with a good argument against.Infact I challenge everyone. I have an answer for all the old unthought out repetitious nonsence people will normally come out with . Let the battle commence......

I am sure that everybody who plays chess sees it as a sport.

Just make sure we recognize it as a different sport.

In Dutch we call it "Denksport" were denk is think.

I dont think that chess will ever get the recognition it deserves. But off course this goes for a lot of things.

There is a physical aspect to chess as well.When playing a tough match,over several days/weeks,the player in the best physical shape has some advantage over his opponent.

It's phycology is very similar to sports, a few chess teachers who have also been sports coaches, in say a local High School team, see a lot of similar phychology involved.

Im sorry to the Dutch guy but you are wrong. The answer is ofcourse Snooker ,darts and pool are sports as well. The world athlete comes from an ancient Greek word which means 2 people who compete for a prize. What is a sport and what does it mean. Can anybody break my argument. In Holland I believe chess is recognised as a sport but I do not like the distinction DENKSPORT why should you class chess as a mind sport. In that case what is the dutch word for stupid because football should be classed as a STUPIDSPORT.
I await any decent argument against my case.

If you read my post carefully you won't find any statement saying that chess is not a sport.

I also agree that chess is a sport, my point was that non pool-, dart- or chessplayers dont see it that way!!


The Dutch word for stupid is dom, I am not a big fan of football but stating that it is a stupidsport is stretching it.

Where shall I start with football. Like most team sports and you can name them from rugby,baseball american football the fact is people can get away with a bad game and their team still wins. There are no decent role models in team sports because the real fact is ,it does not actually build your character. Take the David Beckhams and most overpaid team sport players and they have nothing interesting to say. Most of them behave exceptionaly badly off the field and are in the newspapers for the wrong reasons.Where you have individual sports such as chess, athletics even darts the character is much stronger.If you perform badly you loose. There is a conspiracy to put so much football out there but people have very little control of the media. If individual sports were put on Television people would watch them. Look how popular the olympics is Gymnastics ,cycling, Athletics people just dont get the chance to watch these sports as often.Football is rubbish. Have a great Weekend..........

We need the Olympics. It is the only sport that could be played for the first time mixing chess athletes from the Olympic and paralympic games. It deserves to be on the world stage. Still nobody has come out with a definitive of what a sport is. Chess has no language barriers, chess has no physical boundaries, chess can be played by anybody regardless of age, females and males are able to play on an equal basis. can somebody tell me this is not the idea of a real sport.....The white knight is always right.....and working for the powersof light...............................
