Does anyone play on Chess-Live?
Its an internet chess server, except its in realtime instead of Correspondence.

www.chess-live.com

A lot of FIDE and National Masters play there.
Also, you can play many other variants of chess, like Losers, Suicide, Bughouse, and more.
I've been playing there for about 3 years and its great. You can win money or free "Royal" membership, too.
Check it out at www.chess-live.com

If you make a new account, you can get a free month of Royal Membership if you put L156steven as your referrer.

Not a good sever.

WHY?

They refuse to let masters cash out their crowns, that is why you will hardly see any titled players online.

Lack of punishment for cheaters.

Lack of events.

Lack of variants.

Basicly, they have 1/4 the membership of ICC, 1/3 of the events, 1/3 the chess variants and literally 1/60 of FIDE titled players that actually play on the server.

lack of variants? really?
they have Atomic, Crazyhouse, Bughouse, like 10 types of Wild chess, Suicide, and Losers. plus they have a lot of Chess Advisors in each of the variants that often hold simuls there.
plus its holds US Chess Federation Quick Rated tournaments (Juniors 18 and under play free on tuesdays)

half of the wilds that ICC is completely nonpractical, like 2 knights vs king pawn. Others exist in USCL as well, like rook odds

it is possible to cheat on all chess servers, including ICC and Chess-Live. In Chess-Live, you will be booted if u are caught cheating. I dunno about ICC cuz i dun play there.

anyways, does anyone here play on chess-live?

Wrong, cheaters are rarely caught on ChessLive, simply because they don't hunt for them. Secondly, cheaters on ChessLive get 2 warnings. ICC has admins that their sole purpose is to catch cheats.

It's more like 1/10 the mebership of ICC, if even that high.

ChessLive has the second best GUI, behind playchess, but too few players to be considered seriously. ICC has far and away the highest number of players, as well as the strongest, but is also the most expensive.

I play on playchess and FICS, and usually 1-2 games per week on ChessLive. I played on ICC for six years. ICC's new interface is leagues better than the old one, but still not as nice as ChessLive and Fritz (the playchess interface). Babachess for FICS and ICC are now on par as GUIs.

I have reviews of these sites at http://www.angelfire.com/poetry/wulebgr/reviews.htm

I think there are loads of cheaters everywhere, and no matter how much a site polices, they will always be there. At least with correspondance, you have a chance if someone plugs in an engine, because you have lots of time to think.

Hydra has been beaten in correspondance chess.

EDIT: And also by a centaur (chess player using engines to help) in timed matches.
