I’m thinking of getting a set for Christmas, something to be left out rather than a travel set.
There are lots of places to buy online and I’d prefer to buy from the high street but can’t find anything other than online. Has anyone here had experience with an online retailer which they could recommend please?
Edit: UK based.
Thanks
@divegeester saidIf you're looking for a quality set, you might try this one. They offer a large variety.

Have you purchased from them yourself?
@divegeester saidNothing from Regency I'm afraid, though they look like a good company.

This is my online retailer. I'm sure they would ship to the UK, but you might confirm this before ordering.

@divegeester saidI just googled what you want; there are numerous shops that you can visit and see/pick/choose the board and style of pieces you want; some will even make what you want.

Simply Google chess shops UK
I hate buying on-line unless I know EXACTLY what I want.
Go visit a shop, make it a day out.
I have a beautiful (but standard) chess set my mother bought for me 50 years ago; the board is about 38 inches square and the King stands about 4 inches tall; it sits on a coffee table in the lounge.
It is a piece of furniture as well as a source of pleasure.
Good shopping.

Martin
