Iv just subcribed for a month (about £6.50) to see what its like, the advertisement on the promo is a little misleading, 24/7 chess......looking at the line up for this week its basicly a report on Wijk and then that gets repeated all day. I had expected some repeats during the 24 hours but it would have been nice to have some coverage of other tournaments from around the world. My other grrrrr at it (and iv only been on it an hour so far) is the commentators, I didnt catch the names of them at the start but I think the "expert" is called Robert something or other and the second commentator is an amature, which isnt a bad idea he can ask the questions all of us are dying to ask and which sometimes GM's over look as being too simple to think about, however when amature asked expert "Do you think the pertoff is sliding in whites favor these days" Expert replied "Umm..No I dont think so....long pause.....longer pause" Amature "so on with the game then" I mean ok lets hear your reasons, gosh!

Still undecided as to if its worth the money or not. Im intrested to see whats on when Wijk ends. They advertise that on February 3rd and 4th there will be coverage of GM Kiril Georgiev vs. CraftyNovus which will make very intresting watching/listening. However in the days and weeks between major events im wondering if it will just be constant replays or if they will take games from smaller competitions.
I looked at it, but the price was too high. Is it any better than the coverage on ICC or playchess? I already have subscriptions to both, so why should i pay extra for something i already have? Maybe there's something i'm missing. I first heard about it through chesslecture.com, which i also subscribe to and like.
Originally posted by buddy2The main difference is that ICC/Playchess dont do audio commentary on every event this does. I think the level of commentary done by Yasser is much better than that on both this and ICC (where they seem to spend 2 of 5 hours talking about anything apart from the chess) but as I say hes not there on every event.

One of the draw backs iv just noticed about chess television is that its a feed from the web....ie you cant pick to watch the show from the start, you have to wait till the replay has finished then log in and start watching from the beginning when it loops.
How good is chesslecture?
Edit : Just subscribed to chess lecture, wow this place looks wooo and mwaaaam 😀
I like chesslecture.com. Every weekday they have a new lecture: openings, middlegames, tactics, games from tournaments, matches, etc. As of now, they have 378, certainly enough to keep anyone busy. It's about 13 bucks a month. It's broken down in every category: beginner to expert, aspects of the game, commentator. Some commentators are better than others, naturally. It's always available so you can go back to where you left off. you can quit whenever you want, in case of a stock market crash and you need the money. One very interesting lecture was on the "hook and ladder" tactical trick. It was explained fully, then lots of examples from master games (as well as the commentator's) were given. Very nicely done.
