Hi! :-)

I was thinking that I might collect my games from RHP and other forums into a database so I could search through my own opening lines in the same way I search through opponents' openings in RHP's Games Explorer or through master games in in chessgames.com's Openings Explorer. So, I downloaded chessbase light to try to do that. However, I don't see an easy, Games Explorer-like filter in Chessbase Light. Am I missing something? Is there another tool that would let me walk through the opening lines of my games?

Many thanks! :-)

You need to establish a repetoire in chessbase... not sure if chessbase light has it as an option... however you should arrange your games into a database and right click the database and under properties choose "repetoire". Or, if your looking to see old lines comparisons... then you can make it a reference DB instead...

Also, when looking at each databases games you can right click near the details and choose to add "Show Game Lines" and it'll show the notation of the game.

Hope this answers your questions.

you could try "chess DB" which is free, chessbase light has many restrictions.

I'm not sure about Chessbase Light, but diskamyl is right, ChessDB will fill the bill. I think it's the tree view window feature that you're looking for in ChessDB. Also, either fork of Scid will work. I think the general consensus is that the Scid fork maintained by Pascal Georges is better than either the original Scid or ChessDB. Here's a good summary of Scid:

The above link also gives a summary review of Chessbase Light 2007, in case you're interested.
