That is an improvement on the cblight but who would pay €49,99 to unlock that? Why not get the real deal on the DVD? A 38 Mb download does not have any games of significance to pay €49,99 for.

What is the big advantage of using Chessbase at all? I use Fritz to occasionally analyze finished games, but i thought about it and can't see any advantage to chessbase, light or heavy.

I installed CB Light 2007, then uninstalled it. Now my Fritz 8 sounds for piece movements are gone. I' guess I'll have to reinstall Fritz. Unfortunately, these kind of problems are common with Chessbase products. 😠

Don't forget that there are many whose first introduction to any ChessBase product is the cblight and those may be suckered into paying. Fritz comes with training videos+engine+database+playchess access which serves the needs of most players.

GMs, IMs and serious club players can shell out extra for the full chessbase package.
