Why would you buy something without first checking to see what the improvements are? The site indicates the "improvements" are with respect to training using Waitzkin's new book as a foundation.

It's still a fine product, imo. It's good for a beginner and certainly better than nothing. I prefer Fritz or simply using something like ChessDb with engine integration to all the other engines via UCI.

It's still good to play against.

But change the look atleast....

and is it so hard to have 1000 tactical puzzles in there?

woo wee they have...mate with queen and rook...or mate in 1...mate in two....grow up Chessmaster...man alive.

Aswell...the tutorials are clearly for beginners....

I'm at the ..."I need to study tactics untill my eyes bleed"...phase.

So....why can't these programs have a huge amount of tactical puzzles?

not the basic mate in 1 and mate in two that they have....

Understand that Fritz is best used simply as an analysis tool.

I know the REAL reason you got CM GE. You just can't get enough of Josh Waitzkin. 😛

He quit when Chess got hard....it was easy for him up untill he hit IM status...then when he realized he would have to try hard....he quit....

Now he preaches "Martial arts" which is wrong....."Martial arts" is not a good form or defense.....it leads kids into getting there butts kicked by boxers and wrestlers....

I have CM10, what's wrong with using it for game analysis? Just about every good game of chess I play I analyze it on there, and Chessmaster tells me what we both did wrong and what we could've done better, and all that good stuff

CM XI also works with UCI engines. I'm running Shredder 11 in mine now.
I don't know why people expect a totally different game out of the latest CM. The target audience is still the same, beginners through high end intermediate players. If you've grown past that then there are products that are for your level.
