it might help you to know I can't beat the chessmaster either. I can get upto the guy with grey hair rated about 1700 always plays dutch defense.. I was once beating him and my cpu overheated and the computer thermal protection kicked in. Since then I have upgraded my cpu from 2000+ to 3200+ athlon and replaced the heatsink and now the dude with grey hiar is even harder 🙁

Beating Chessmaster is easy. Run two computers. On one you play against CM. Run Fritz or Hiarcs or Junior or Shredder on the other. Make the moves suggested by the other engine. You'll win one in five, and lose one in 15; the other games will be drawn.

I have Chessmaster 10th edition, and it has helped me a great deal, especially Waitzkin's Chess Academy. I think it's a great tool for beginners to grasp the basics rather quickly. But I am still very very very far from beating the Chessmaster, I haven't even attempted it yet. My rating in Chessmaster is much lower than my rating here.

Chessmaster 10th edition i got. It doesn't matter if you can beat chessmaster or not. Just watch the lectures, go over the drills and lessons and then start playing in the tournaments which chessmaster has with lower rated players and work yourself up.

Nope, I don't have CM or any other engine. I might get one to analyze my games. Any suggestions?

If you want an engine to analyse your games, a chessbase engine (Shredder, Fritz, Junior, etc.) is the way to go. If you want a teaching tool, chessmaster is better.
