I think its a great system, especially if you are just starting out,i learnt chess about two yrs ago,and pkay the colle a lot!
However recently as i have started playing 1400 rated players and its far less successful!

The Colle works great against 1...d5. Against Indian systems, I would recommend the Torre Attack (1 d4 Nf6 2 Nf3 g6 3 Bg5). It's a bit more active than the "Boring System (1 d4 2 Nf3 3 Bf4)." Against the Dutch Defense (1...f5), I like 2 Bg5.

7 O - O

Hope this helps, good luck and enjoy.
It isn't. If black goes for the king's indian I don't mess around with it. I play c4 and transpose. I just use Colle as an alternative to the Queen's Gambit, which I haven't really studied enough.

I'm just now beginning to study different openings. A lot to learn, that's for sure. I just have to rein myself in, only a couple at a time or it's too overwhelming.

This is a good one for players who don't want to spend so much time studying openings, and want to take their opponents "out of the book" early.

What I hate in Colle is when opponent pins my f3 Knight in and plays some unusual moves for this system, especially in blitz. Some black replies can really interfere with main Colle idea which is invasion of e4 square and kingside attack

Yep, on this site 1600+ players play from database even 20 moves in depth... It is killing some of the fun, this is the downside of correspodence chess. But on other hand, it improves your opening lines knowledge a lot

You can also then switch tp queen side attack with this system!

I haven't run into that yet. How do they do that if they play e6 early on?

They don't. If you play Colle with player 250 points above you and he doesn't know this opening well he can do some pretty naughty out of book moves. I will try to find and post PGN of my OTB game against 1900 FIDE player unfamiliar with Colle. It went wrong for me 😛

Arguably the most boring opening in chess! Tried it out for a while, did not like it. That said, it is sound, but you better like draws!

It is working fine against weaker opponents before they are able to notice it, all of white pieces are pointed towards their scared king. But I had some problems against strong opponents so now I stick to 2. c4... It also looks visually more cool!

I didn't even notice that I had Colle game on this site if this is Colle at all because I couldn't finish system.

I played very fast and pretty bad here, but you can see that the opponent is playing his game, not responding to my opening, even putting me in some troubles.. Of course I couldn't develop like intented because of knight pin and e4 pawn, threathing fork. According to opening databases idea of Colle should be left after opponent plays 3. ...Bg4

Well, it's boring if black knows how to play it. It can be pretty lively if not.
