But of course white doesn't have to block the Qd1 check with rook he can move his king around. But I would still try to get that pin.

Yes, this was a won position.
First, you grab the pawn, for instance with Qd1+ and if Kg3 then Qg4+ and take the pawn. No stalemate tricks available for white.
Second, you have the standard endgame, which may take some moves and some skill to do it in 50 moves but it is not that difficult;
