I am writing this in hopes that some of you could point me in the right direction for where to go to download pgn files of many games to fill a database with. I know that there are online databases that can be used for free, but I find them to be a bit limited. I know that SCID is supposed to be a pretty good free Database, and I have used the DB function that came in Fritz 8. I'm just wondering where you guys go to get free pgn games to populate the DB's with. Any help is appreciated.

'The Week in Chess' is a very good source for free games:

http://www.chesscenter.com/twic/twic.html

It comes out with a new issue every week (usually Monday or Tuesday) containing hundreds, often thousands, of recent games. The current issue is #734, which came out on December 2nd. You can access and download all the past issues by clicking on the 'Previous issues of TWIC' link.

All the TWICs are zipped, so you need a utility such as Winzip to unzip them.
