Ok, what will happen if black plays Rook to d8?

I am pretty sure, the white knight can't move and give me a check from f6 (since it is pinned against his king). But just wanted to confirm, before losing a piece 😛

You're not allowed to ask for help on a game in progress. Some cultures would consider it cheating.

Indeed -

Do not ask for help or use computers.....

Of course, I could tell you that your about to make the biggest blunder which would cost you the game, But if I told you that I would be helping you cheat -- Which I'm not going to do....

Play the (a) move and learn from your mistakes....oh, and wins

I am not asking for game help.

I am asking about the rules of chess. If a piece is pinned against the king, can it move and give a check? I think not, but need confirmation.

I could have asked the same question without posting the game. I thought it would help illustrate the situation.

I think that its a legitimate question given the above reason.

After all I'm sure we are all familiar with the story of Viktor Korchnoi asking an arbiter if he could legally castle during a competitive game!

The rook, bishop, and queen are capable of pinning other pieces agains the king since it is not a legal move to put your king in check.

If he were to move a piece that is blocking an attack against the king then the king would be in check, and this is an illegal move to put ones self in check.

I believe he was playing a game and his rook was attacked. He asked the arbiter if it was legal to castle. (It was - only not allowed if the King is in check or would pass into or thorugh check whilst castling)
Bit of a convoluted explanation but you get my drift

It's a moot point now because the game has moved past the position that was being asked about, but in the future please note that asking about the effect a move will have or any other advice on a game in progress is not allowed. I appreciate that you were asking for advise on the general rules of the game, but by posting the game in question you made it specific to a game in progress. I dare say that if you'd asked "if moving a piece would leave his king in check but also get my king in check, is it allowed?" or similar then this would have been seen as a more general 'rules of the game' question & no one would have cared.

Short answer - you can't make a move that puts your king in check even if it results in the opponents king also being in check.

I've often wondered about this, because there is a game with triple castling, which is often referenced as a record. and in the third castling the white king has moved already. can anyone clarify this?
