Wahay, it's my birthday soon and the wife has said she will buy me a chess related pressie. i'm thinking of getting a dedicated chess computer like the Novag Obsidian as i like having real pieces to move. Worth it or should i get option2 which is Chessbase8. Anyone have a dedicated chess computer that they like?
I have always enjoyed the Saitek chess computers.But since I've got a pc I haven't used it anymore,so I would go for the chessbase8,if I were you.Or Fritz if you haven't got that.Chess computers are no match for a pc program!
If you feel that strongly about having real pieces you might consider a dgt electronic chess board.You just plug it in your computer and play on a real board.Neat stuff!
There are also chess computers with extra modules which are similar to pc programs in playing strength.But I'm not familiar with them,only know about their existense.Maybe you should enquire a bit before you decide.Browse the net,there's so much cool stuff around 🙂
