Possible moves:
The big problem is that pinned Knight which is the source of all problems, so moving the king and losing that Knight might be an idea.
Castling queenside is probably blacks best option , although going with Kd8 also leads to the same end result, but eventually leads to black getting crushed.
1.... 0-0-0
2. Nb6+ Kc7 (Kb8 leads to all manner of trouble)
3. Qa5 Nc5
4. Nxd7+ Kxd7
5. Bxf7 Kc8
6. Rh3 f3
7. Rxf3 Bg7
8. Be8 Rhxe8
9. Nxd6+ ends up with black getting mated pretty rapidly.
Other options would be:
1.... Qd8
2. Qc3 Kd7
3. Rxe4 Rc8
4. Nf6+ Qxf6
5. Qxf6 and position is now looking bleak for black.
No real other positions to go for in my opinion as they all lead to problems so Black doesnt really have a chance to save this game, that is of course if white doesnt make a mistake!!
Thanks. Now I suppose I should post a less complimentary game for me.
How about...
Game 3965136? As soon as he didn't didn't play 3...d6 I got all discombobulated. How should I have played this? Clearly 7 d4 was a poor idea.
Originally posted by AThousandYoungDo you want the short answer? Stop making 1 move blunders. Its pointless for anyone here to analyze your game to look for anything deeper so long as you're hanging material for your opp to pick off his move. Saying "clearly 7. d4 was a poor idea" is being far too generous. It implies that there was an actual idea, ie thought, behind the move, rather than your thoughtlessly hanging material for your opp to take for free.

So the way to play that is the same as every other game of chess: put some thought into your moves. Don't hang material. Make active moves that pose threats, create difficulty for your opp, or place a piece on a square where it has more activity than the one you're moving it from. Take another look at that game and ask yourself whether each of your moves accomplished those goals. Where they didn't, ask yourself what you could have done instead.
In my opinion, for what it counts anyway, you played the right move with Nxc6. I think on move 5. I would have played either d3 or e5 depending on how aggresive I was feeling. In your 7th move though I think d3 or castle would be best either way. What did you have in mind with Be2, I think you were making way for a castle, if that was the case than castle.
