Hey folks, first time poster here.
I'm enjoying the heck out of this site and i'm thoroughly addicted.

I've logged 20 games against 10 different opponents.
I've managed to find 4 great opponents that i've played multiple games against. But i've had 6 Ops disappear with no explanation at various stages of our game.
Is this normal or am i just unlucky?

you just became non-provisional, which will help greatly.. being a sub might help more as well, but people will always have stuff come up or need to lower the load, and they will take a dive in non tournaments and clans games 1st

That makes sense.
Can you explain how being non-provisional will help?

4 of the 6 seemed to have quit this site comp ...[text shortened]... ven though he has made moves recently.

Am i being unreasonable expecting some common courtesy?

What exactly do you mean by "disappear"? If you mean they completely quite moving altogether, to the point that you have the ability to time them out, then there's no way of knowing their intentions. If, however, they don't move for several days but still have time remaining to move, then there isn't anything you can do but wait.

Explain your situation a bit more clearly and I might be able to help further.

I'd say normal. I've been playing at this site for 18 months, and
about 25% of my opponents drop out. The reasons for this vary.
I'm not real happy with it, but does not affect things too much for
me.

Luckily I have a different experience. I would say only about 5% does stop moving, and the ones that do, often don't even make a single move. Since most of my games are tournament games, I just wait for the time-out. It doesn't bother me. (although I find it better behaviour for someone to just quit the game if you see that you have no time for it, intead of just leaving it).

About how being non-provisional helps.

Of the regular players here, there are some that don't play new members. Reason is, I guess, that we don't know yet the playing strength of new members, and if they don't leave the site again after a week (like you experienced).

So, being non-provisional, chances are that you will find more oppenents that actually will finish the game.
