hmm... good point. well... lets see. as white, I usually play the king's gambit. as black against d4, I usually play the albin. Give you any kind of idea what kind of player I am? :-) Problem is, there don't seem to BE any real solid attacking openings, that aren't scary like the sicilian, as black against d4... :-)
Half the people you play won't know the theory in the opening you choose.
Half the people who do know the theory, won't remember it during the game.
Half the people who do remember it, won't be able to play the positions that arise anyway.
Half the people who do recall the theory, and can play the resulting positions, will blunder several times during the rest of the game no matter what.
And the remaining 3 players in every hundred games would probably have beaten you anyway.
