When he played Bc5 and killed my rook swing idea, I decided to go on and trap the rook. After Bc5, he could save the rook with Kf8 and Rg8. When I did play Bf6, it kept his king from running to f8. Rh4 was an alternative. The problem is that when I do trade the bishop for the rook, his king can be pretty safe on h8. That's why I hesitated at first. His king is on a dark square, and he has pretty good control. In the end, I only flushed him out with a piece sacrifice.
16. Bf6 wins the rook?
In other words, I didn't play just to win the rook (although it does in fact win in the long term) because it would kill my strategic plans of an attack on the king.
Edit: If that doesn't make a lot of sense, forgive me. It's 4 AM and way past my bedtime. 🙂

That should make it easy.
Here's a nice 3 minute game:

Here is one that I played really late last night/this morning. I was too tired to post it, but I've had a little sleep now.
This one features a nice tactical trick, but I almost lost because I overlooked one shot in the middle of the tactics.
The real nice part of this game is in the note to move 26.

Do you have an OTB rating, USCF or club?
I do have a low USCF rating, but it's mostly from before the year 2000. That was when I first started playing. I have only been to one rated tournament (2003) since then.
Even that was seven years ago !
All I can go by is my FICS, ICC, and RedHotPawn ratings.
I nearly broke 2400 (2370) before my ICC account expired (this month).
My handle was mississippimad.

I played in 9 tournaments between 1998 and 2000, and 1 tournament in 2003.
That's my entire OTB rated career, and the ratings are LOW. 🙂

One of my last games was a Marshall attack in the Ruy Lopez.
The theory was very long, but the play was interesting.
The next game features an alternate route.
Black tries to leave theory on move 3, and the surprise value turns out to be worth quite a bit.
The funny thing is that the Marshall game didn't leave theory until move 18.
This one ends in a mere 14.
That's what is to be said for occasionally trying to leave the books.
