So do the big boys:

You suppose he left his Queen hanging LOL? It was probly a move most of us wouldn't even realize was bad.
But how imporntant is that?? No very in my opinion!
I dont tend to make a face but more I get a sickening feeling , then it is just a case of keeping calm and hoping my opponent misses the mistake (which has happened quite a few times - they must think that because I am so calm that everything is ok and it must be they who have failed to see something).
If it was a game losing blunder I tend to find I laugh at such bad play.

If I leave a piece en prise for a reason, then I'll definitely make a face.
Very hard to pull off without making yourself look like a twit* I feel.
*Wrong vowel but I suspect the right one won't get past the profanity checker.

It's easy to make the opponent to notice, that you are hiding your worries. A good way is also to start drumming the table with your fingers nervously. What you shouldn't do is start screaming or spill your coffee over the table and/or your opponent.

It's kind of hard to describe in words what I do when I make a blunder on RHP. So I made a video 😀

I was once playing a pretty strong player (Steve Berry, about 220 ECF at the time) and suddenly his face turned bright red! I realised he must have seen something that I had missed and so looked more carefully and discovered a simple tactic which allowed me to win a piece for a pawn. Unfortunately he outplayed me in the ending and I could only draw.
This is the reason I always shield my face when I'm playing chess:
