Sadly, this isn't the first time I got my Queen and King sides confused during the opening, but this was probably the most dramatic.

I get very confused when people play my defenses against me. Last night a guy played the Petrosian KID against me. He pushed his a pawn, which is theory I know, and I said to myself "why is this idiot pushing a flank pawn?" I played the French for most of my games last year. One of my friends who always plays Sicilians played the French on me and I seriously thought he was playing the Pirc.

That's absolute quality. This site needs a few more people who can laugh at themselves.

I can't deny it. So I won't say anything.

A Damiano without the King's knight... now there's a sight.

No, I haven't done that yet. Given my track record, I probably will sooner or later.

Well not me personally (yet) but 1.e4 e5 2.f4 f6?! I've found it being played
over 270 times on here most of whcih were quick wins for White.
(most of the Black wins were when White timed out in winning positions,
one of the exception is the 2nd game.)

stinsford - RDM RHP 2009
Follows the same path as the OP's game.

mischas - Dave Branagan RHP 2005

White nicks the h8 Rook with his Queen, blunders a away a piece then
allows the Queen to be trapped on h8.

Thank you for finding the other games!! I should have given up my rook and fought it out. Trying to save the rook, I lost my king.
