I haven't had the experience of a rude opponent OTB yet. But on internet blitz lots of them.

Usually when they say something rude, I make a point of thanking them for the game (normally I don't say anything). This confuses them. On FICS I've also told someone to stop playing crappy openings after he'd lost with his blackmar-diemer gambit to me for the second time and afterwards started insulting me again.
The best way is probably to ignore them though. Don't feed trolls.

I like the "you have made a mistake" comment.
Saves me the effort of finding my mistakes. Or tells me something about my opponent if it wasn't a mistake.

I usually just smile. I like to say whoever makes the last mistake loses ;-)

I love the insult and run. They say something to intentionally upset you and then disconnect like a coward.

I always message this person afterwards.

"You didn't have to run away so fast. I wanted to thank you for the game. Handshake"

Believe it or not, I don't think one of those messages has ever had a response. 🙂

I heard my listed comments in person..

I heard "I knew I was going to win" once in an official tournament.

In Playchess I` regulary beat in bullet one Italian National Master who after the few lost games always says that I was lucky. Except the last time, yesterday when he called me lagger (despise of fact that his internet connection was slower than mine) 😀

When an opponent says that you were lucky, you have to pity someone who is so unsportsmanlike. Don't bother answering them -- just be glad you aren't that person.
