I wonder how many copies of Mr. Wilson's e-book have sold? (I've seen it in the ad banners here for the last few days. Sorry, subs, I guess you can't see the ad. 😛)

Well, at least the marketing hype is fun to read through.

Since I already have a copy of Fred Reinfeld's two books, "1001 Ways to Checkmate" and "The Complete Chess Course", I doubt that I'd have much desire to purchase Mr. Wilson's e-book. 😉

...And You Won't Believe Just How Easy It Really Is!

For those of you who have the two Reinfeld books I mentioned, here's an interesting exercise.

Compare the first 12 problems in the first pdf document with Reinfeld's "1001 Ways to Checkmate". I did, and these were my results. (I stopped after 12 due to flagging interest. Not sure what I would have found if I had continued.)

Prac Checkmates diag # Reinfeld's diag #
131 ---------------------- 94
132 ---------------------- 172
133 ---------------------- 61
134 ---------------------- 155
135 ---------------------- 909
136 ---------------------- 910
137 ---------------------- 917
138 ---------------------- 132
139 ---------------------- not found
140 ---------------------- 85
141 ---------------------- 510
142 ---------------------- not found

Next, compare the second pdf document with Book 3, Chapter 2 of Reinfeld's "Complete Chess Course".

Now draw your own conclusions. 😀

I was very careful to only state facts. But yeah, Nigel's recent posts did cross my mind, hehe.

Ol' Nigel can throw toys out of a cot like no-one I've ever met.

I think this situation is far different than the Nigel Davies situation.

Amazon sells new copies of Reinfeld's "Complete Chess Course", and from the Amazon listing, it seems to me that Reinfeld's book is still in copyright. So I'd be very surprised if we hear from Mr Wilson at all. (If that is indeed his real name.)
