While playing for my club in the local chess league (board 3 under 400 league) I happened to watch one of the players (the other team) on board 4 move his pawn as if to capure en passant.

However, this player the failed to take the opponents pawn off the board!

This was a game between two 40 rated players, but it was still pretty shocking and not a little amusing.

For the record we won 3-1 and finished top of our (3 team I think) league.

Think I may try en passanting my King off the board. I don't believe in giving your opponent something to aim for, lol

I tried the following surprising move once:
After b2-b4 I did Lc4xb3 e.p.
He shook his head not understanding what his eyes saw. I continued by saying j'adaube, and then we laughed.
