Joined 20 Jan '07 Moves 24091 Does anybody fancy taking me on in an Evans? I'd like to play the white pieces against somebody with at least a similar rating, i'm not fussed about 100 points either way.
as long as the pawn is accepted you can do what you like after that. I'm trying to brush up on this opening to add it to my OTB repertoire.
Any takers? just send the board accross.
cheers.

come on now! you know you want to. I am within your range but currently pretty underrated. I will raise my rating about 400 points within a month though so there is no problem I hope.

come on now! you know you want to. Why?
The Evans is fun as White, but horrible for Black in all but a very few lines.

You will most likely walk into book refutations.
You should have set up the position after
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 gone as white and when the
challenge was accepted - trot out 5.b4.
Some of the players may not have known it was an Evans
and thought it was blunder. Now they know what it's called
so they know what to look up...OOPS!

The Evans is fun as White, but horrible for Black in all but a very few lines. Mr. Morphy, and before you start, i know he was a different breed of player, never avoided the Evans as black! He was seemingly able to destroy players from both sides!
