I'm a low to mid-range player and at my level you kinda take winning and losing as a matter of course. What that means is if I'm losing I can usually see it coming... but every once in a while you can get a game where someone lays a thrashing on you and you don't even know it until its all over.

For me, it was one of my FIRST losses on RHP. Checkmate in 12 moves and I had no freakin' idea it was happening.

Game 282914

So how about it? No analysis, no second-guessing, no pride, no shame... Show us a game that put you in your place... 😲

Too much such games, recalling them would be kinda chess masochismπŸ˜€

Nice thread... and I found one game. (There are others)

This one hurts... it was my 98th game here. It was my first time being mated at RHP!

😠

The beauty of these forums is you can remain faceless... That being said I will post a quick lesson mwmiller gave me. Six moves! Hell, I was still thought we were getting set up. He didn't laugh me off the site and has been kind enough to teach me a few other lessons as well.

I don't know if this will be a correct link but here goes. If it doesn't work please tell me how to post it.

Yes Frank, the link works fine.

The only problem with that game was that you were still messing around with your opening lines and I was already into the endgame!πŸ™‚

in jest,
Marc

<edit> Ummm, I think it was over in 5 moves, Frank.

This I should have really predicted, really did catch me by surprise:

Next move is mate - caught so flat-footed, I didn't see it coming... but a good lesson on the merits of developing pieces early, and the perils of pawn grabbing.

You could have held out a few more moves with a queen sacrifice. πŸ˜›

I should've joined Losing is Also An Art after this one. Hats off to my opponent for excellent play and a sporting comment at the end.

Very true, but it would not have changed my resignation.

Oops, certainly was. And for anyone who would like to analyze, feel free, it won't take but just a second :=)...

Man, I got rolled in this one. Lesson: even (or especially) at this level, have a plan and pay attention to space.
