And the stupid and incorrect Fried Liver still work, I am insulted.
Nb4 and not Ne7.... this is a good difference.
if d4 was name the friend liver, it would be more played. as it is the correct move, after which, white gain a good attack.
After Kd7, BxN. Pxn Qxp check. Now white has a winning attack...
And white position in the end, is already winning,. black is a piece down...

Edit: Or maybe it is. I have noticed that sometimes the lower ranked players are the most sure of their opening assessments, while Grandmasters are more apt to use 'unclear' and admit that they don't know all the answers.

What's the best lines for white if 5...Nd4 was played instead of Nxd5 ? With the knight on d4 black allows white in taking rook in exchange for mate, making it a clean refute against players who are unknowing of it. But is it as good as I think it is?
In this line white is better off by not playing 7.Nxf7.
7.Bxf7+ would snag a pawn and take away black's right to castle. This might be white's best reply.

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)
I am not part of the group of wiser people, yet I doubt it is justified to feel "insulted" because of some movements of chess pieces 😕
Originally posted by heinzkatI could see GM vs. GM where one plays a move like 1...a6 - like Miles did against Karpov - how Karpov might feel 'insulted' that Miles thought he could get away with such an 'inferior' opening against him. There is more going on here than just some movements of pieces.

But those are guys who play for a living, and are the top ranked players in the world, and thus seem more justified in having a big ego about their own play.
Regarding 1. ... a6: I think the happy chess crowd/media have made wonderful "insult" stories around it, I have never heard Karpov on it.
It's not like if Karpov would annotate the game he would go like:
1. e4 - after comprehensive home prep, I decided to go for 1. e4 and was fully expecting a Sicilian.
1. ... a6 - oh my, what an insult. I felt so terribly insulted, I couldn't concentrate for the rest of the game.
