Java based, it seems to be much more crowded than FICS or chess.com, you can get any time controls game anytime. I found out about the site from the coach of my little cousin, an IM who also plays there.
beware ; the rating metrics are wacky. If you are 1400 blitz on FICS here you can expect to be 1200 or less. Do not get sad, the ratings are strict 🙂
