Game 1

Black went on to win after I drug it out to move 43.

I need help with this game.
After all my years of playing, I only recently switched to the Open Sicilian. I have used many side systems over the years (2.f4, Grand Prix, Closed Sicilian, 2.c3, Big Clamp, Kopec, Morra, etc).
I thought the opening went well for me.
I expected 5. ... Bb6.
The game ended up being an e6 Najdorf/Scheveningen with an extra tempo for white.
I seemed to remember 12.Bd3 from a Kasparov-Anand game (albeit with a tempo less for white ... 12.Bf3 was the other move.)

Was 13.Qf3 a mistake (premature attack)?

I am pretty sure that 16.Rad1 was. It set black up for all the play on the d-file and didn't really accomplish much.
16.g4 or the immediate 16.Bc4 look better.
I haven't given this a thorough looking over yet, but I intend to.
One funny line that I played around with after the game was 16.Bc4 Ra7 !? 17.g4 Qa8.

19.h4 also seems to be a serious error. The attack really never seems to get going (as it shouldn't with an open center).

I think I am lost or close to it within the next few moves.

Any ideas?

I really need help with this one.

Game 2

This one was rather easy, although I did drop a pawn with 9. ... h5. 🙂

Game 3

This one shows that even a 2000 player can make silly mistakes.
This is another easy ride.

I really only need help with Game 1.

22.Nd5 looks more forceful imo.

Here's me trying to tackle the Sicilian one more time.

This time it's a 3 minute game, but I am getting better. 🙂

Black is winning and did in fact win.

20.Nxg7 actually works.
21.Nxe8 was better.
25.Rg3 is much better
26.Qxg5+ ! would have kept a slight edge !!!

Just for the record, I can't find the Kasparov-Anand game. I may have it mixed up in my head. Here is a darn good game that I may have been thinking of.

I actually have a Grandmaster Video Magazine on VHS with them playing this game (along with two videos on the match in 95).

here's my long battle of the day. I think I played pretty solidly, making a rather strange positional decision after the opening by allowing white to double my pawns, but I was planning to create a bad bishop + weak pawns vs good bishop + active rooks situation, and I got more than what I wanted.

notes & tricks:

-black can't win material around move 5.
-black can't take the pawn at move 27.
-white can't take the pawn at move 30.
-white can't take the rook at move 32.
-I can't play ...c2 at move 33.

overall, I'm satisfied with my play in this one.
