FICS Handles

Hello peoples. I have been on a quest lately to become a living legend and break the 2200 barrier. Part of my training has been playing on the free internet chess server (FICS) as it has probably the strongest opposition outside of ICC.

Anyway, I was just wondering how many of the players from here use it and what your username might be - who knows, maybe we have played this very night....?

Ah ok, I will spot you if you are online.

It is a bit of a crazy house sometimes - I regularly beat 1900-2100 opponents but then i also get beaten by 1700-1800s. the strength differences there are so minimal it is almost impossible to judge a player by their grade.

I'm Steveb there, but don't play blitz often. You are right, the ratings are very weird there. I beat 1700s and fight for my life against 1200s, its strange.
