Good with Babbas interface. Lag time a problem. Several times i've played 2/12 games where my opponent's move takes 5 minutes. Fewer opponents than ICC. It's free. Broke away from ICC years ago when they went to pay mode. Incidentally, ICC is raising fees. Opponents are tougher on FICS (in comparison to ratings). This is my personal opinion, but others have borne this out. For something gratis, i think they do a good job on the whole. Now, tho i still support ICC, I play more games on FICS. Aside from playing blitz and chess variants, they don't have much at FICS, but if that's what you like, they're fine.

What about the winboard interface?

A number of us play there. and personally, I think its the best FREE real-time chess site.
The only real problem is trying to find worthy oppenants, at "longish" [20min+] time controls. you may have to wait 10min before anyone actually meets the requirements.
oh well, beggars can't be choosers.
I was just looking for a site where I can go over some tactics and positions with my opponent and teach him what to do, like a lecture.
So far it works pretty good. The only problem is when you create a new game on the sever with babachess and go to examine you can't store the variation on the move list.
In new game local you can but then your friend/opponent can't observe.

If you both have the new beta version of Babas then you could probably solve your problem with copy&paste in the chat box.
Originally posted by ShinidokiTrue, it's not that important. It would just be nice to have. But with tactics puzzles they aren't to many variations to go over so it wouldn't be a big deal.
