I'm curious. I've always been. And I like discussing different issues. Lately I've discovered Fischer Random Chess (http://www.chessvariants.com/diffsetup.dir/fischer.html) and I was curious to read what other more experienced amateur players like me were thinking of this proposed chess variant.

I believe it is a good way to think outside the box as there is no opening theory or history you can go too.I have played a few games of it here but you can't castle ,as RHP is not programmed for it.
If you are interested in playing you might try schemingmind.com the home of many chess variants.Alice chess is another variant you might like.If you visit schemingmind send me a game,I use the same moniker there,or if you would like a game here send me a pm and I will set up a board here.

Variations like Fischer's are like playing the middle game at the start of the game. You have to be careful what move you play every move. It is possible to lose control of the game at any move.

The rules of chess have been evolving for centuries in order to keep the game exciting. We currently see about 2/3's of top level games end in draws, often when players go through 20-30 moves of memorised theory and agree to a draw. As a result we may see in years to come that FRC or some similar variant become the new standard chess.

You can castle in RHP. Just move the King, the rook is moved automatically.

Indeed, and with 960 different start positions it will never get routine.🙄

I'm afraid it does not work here because of the odd start positions ,so the only way to set up a board is to turn the castle feature off.
