Cheese960 is a delicious goat cheese from the Fischer mountain in Switzerland

It's chess on acid. Fischer thought chess would be dead once all the opening theory had been worked out, so he devised a new setup algorithm whereby the positions of the pieces (but not the pawns) would be randomized and mirrored on the other side. That way opening theory would be largely useless in a Fischer Random game, allowing chess to remain challenging indefinitely.

The pawns are shuffled around too, didn't they tell you?

It's true! But they always stay on the second and seventh ranks, as opposed to taking part in the grand Fischer Random square dance with the pieces.

Wow, if the pawns get shuffled, too, does that mean that all those rook pawn draws would still apply if the rook pawns get shuffled to the middle of the board?🙄

And I wonder:

If the White King starts on g1, and White opens 1. g4, does that make the Grob a kingpawn opening?

And I heard:

Now that we've allowed pawn shuffling, counting pawns has been banned in Vegas.

And I hope:

That this will lead to "board shuffling". The guy next to me always seems to have a better position than I do.

And I fear:

This will never end.

I once played a live blitz game where my opponent had his king pawn facing backwards.

And I wish I had thought of that!

I believe queen's pawns experience a big temptation to look backwards in any setup. Their heads are just at the right level...

Haha I got a post removed as result of quoting above's text inappropriately 😵 (hint hint it is quite a childish play on WK's user name 😕)
